We are seeking an experienced and driven Composite Laminate Engineer to join our team at Maamigili Yard. This role involves developing lamination schedules, managing material planning, ensuring efficient production processes, and leading a team in the efficient application of composite materials for boatbuilding projects.
Develop and maintain standard lamination schedules for various vessel classes, including cargo boats, speedboats, and workboats.
Prepare and manage per-vessel Bills of Materials (BoMs), including fiberglass, resin, catalyst, and filler requirements.
Define and monitor resin-glass ratios and material layer thickness benchmarks to meet technical specifications.
Track and audit actual material usage during production to ensure alignment with planned consumption and optimize cost-efficiency.
Train and guide the production team on best practices for material application, curing processes, and surface preparation techniques.
Work closely with the procurement team to ensure timely delivery of materials in line with production stages.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in GRP boatbuilding or composite manufacturing (marine or aerospace).
Strong analytical skills with an ability to develop efficient processes and identify waste.
Capable of enforcing discipline while maintaining respect and motivating a production team.
Clear, direct communicator with a focus on achieving results and fostering collaboration.
