We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Composite Process Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for owning the technical design of boats, from the layup sequence and curing process to mold-to-launch engineering. This role involves supervising laminators, ensuring the highest standards in resin protocols, and managing structural quality assurance. Additionally, you will refine the processes based on prototype learnings, ensuring the production of high-quality boats with minimal waste and defects.
Own the boat's technical design, including the layup sequence, curing, and mold-to-launch processes.
Lead and supervise a team of laminators, ensuring efficient and quality work.
Set resin protocols and manage the curing process to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.
Oversee structural QA, ensuring that every boat meets the required technical and safety standards.
Analyze prototype builds and adjust processes based on learnings to continuously improve production and quality.
Work closely with design, production, and quality teams to ensure seamless execution of engineering processes.
Ensure resin waste is consistently kept below 8% per hull.
Achieve defect-free layup execution, ensuring the highest quality standards are met.
Meet the 15-day hull build target, maintaining production efficiency and deadlines.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in composite manufacturing processes, including resin infusion, curing, and layup sequencing.
Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and composite materials.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex engineering issues.
Knowledge of quality control processes and standards in composite manufacturing.
Familiarity with CAD software and engineering design tools is a plus.
Ability to work in a hands-on environment, including the use of tools and equipment.
