We are seeking an experienced Senior Laminator to join our production team. This key role requires advanced skills in the application of laminating techniques for boat construction and repair. The Senior Laminator will be responsible for overseeing the lamination process, ensuring high-quality finishes, and mentoring junior laminators. The role demands a deep understanding of composite materials, including fiberglass and resins, to deliver durable, high-performance boats. This position requires leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot complex lamination issues to ensure smooth production.
Lead and oversee the lamination process, applying layers of fiberglass, resins, and composite materials with precision to molds and structures.
Supervise and monitor the curing process, adjusting temperatures, curing times, and conditions to achieve optimal hardness and durability.
Perform detailed inspections and trimming of laminated parts, ensuring they meet high-quality standards and project specifications.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior laminators, ensuring they follow best practices, safety standards, and production processes.
Identify and resolve complex lamination issues or defects, providing solutions that maintain the integrity of the final product.
Suggest and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce production time while maintaining product quality.
Oversee the preparation of molds and composite materials for lamination, ensuring everything is set up to meet specific project requirements.
Lead efforts to repair or restore damaged laminated parts, ensuring the use of the correct materials and techniques to restore the structure.
Ensure the work area is clean, organized, and in compliance with safety standards, with proper storage of tools and materials.
Adhere to safety guidelines and ensure all team members wear appropriate protective equipment when working with hazardous materials.
Work closely with the production team, engineers, and designers to ensure smooth workflow and integration of laminated components.
Ordinary Level (O-level) or equivalent. Additional certification in composite materials or boat building is a plus.
At least 5 years of experience in a laminating role within the boat building or composite materials industry, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead laminator role.
Extensive experience and knowledge of composite materials (fiberglass, resins) and the lamination process.
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and train junior laminators while ensuring compliance with quality standards and safety procedures.
Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to lamination, curing, and finishing.
A meticulous eye for detail, ensuring that all laminated parts meet the highest quality standards.
Excellent skills in handling hand tools and lamination equipment with precision and care.
Ability to identify inefficiencies in the production process and implement solutions for optimization.
Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, providing feedback and suggestions for process improvements.
Ability to lift and handle composite materials and equipment.
Must be able to work in an industrial setting with exposure to resins, fiberglass, and other materials.
