EHS / Fire Safety Officer

We are seeking a dedicated EHS / Fire Safety Officer to ensure safety compliance within the workplace, focusing on the proper handling of resin, MEKP storage, and personal protective equipment (PPE) adherence. This role is critical in maintaining a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols, conducting daily safety briefings, performing storage audits, and ensuring compliance with flammable liquid codes. The officer will also be responsible for managing emergency standard operating procedures (SOP) and ensuring that all safety measures are followed.

Responsibilities:

  • Enforce safety protocols related to resin handling, MEKP (Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide) storage, and the use of PPE.

  • Conduct daily safety briefings to ensure all staff are informed of potential hazards and updated safety procedures.

  • Perform regular audits of storage areas to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, especially concerning flammable liquids and chemicals.

  • Develop, implement, and review emergency standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure quick, efficient responses during emergencies.

  • Oversee fire safety measures and ensure compliance with fire safety codes, including safe storage and handling of flammable materials.

  • Conduct regular emergency drills and safety training sessions to maintain readiness across all personnel.

  • Regularly assess the workplace for safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • PPE Use Enforcement: Achieve 100% enforcement of PPE usage across all relevant areas, ensuring all personnel adhere to required safety standards.

  • Ensure zero fire safety violations, with consistent adherence to fire safety protocols and regulations.

  • Emergency Drill Readiness: Ensure that emergency drills and safety protocol readiness are in place within 2 weeks of hire, allowing new employees to be fully prepared.

Qualifications & Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health, Fire Safety, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in a safety officer or fire safety officer role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards, particularly related to flammable liquids and hazardous materials.

  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, fire safety codes, and emergency response protocols.

  • Ability to lead and conduct safety training, drills, and briefings.

  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Relevant certifications in EHS, fire safety, or emergency response training are a plus.

  • Ability to perform safety inspections and audits across the facility.

  • Ability to conduct emergency drills and participate in active emergency response situations.

  • Some lifting and movement of safety equipment or materials may be required.
